Lower School

We welcome children into Reception in the September following their fourth birthday. We have a three form entry into bright, spacious Reception classrooms. Off these is a central hall, in which Reception children enjoy construction activities, role play, dance, drama and art.

All the Reception children follow the Early Years Foundation Stage. Three class teachers and their assistants work with the children in groups and individually so that a good foundation is laid for learning to read, write and understand numbers. Children are taught by specialist PE, French and Music teachers from Reception onwards.

Every care is taken to ensure the transition from year to year is a smooth one, as lessons become more formal and children further develop literacy skills through the full range of National Curriculum subjects and more.
