Hornsby House is a thriving IAPS Prep School of 395 children, situated just to the south of Wandsworth Common. The School, which is a charitable trust, prepares children for transfer to a variety of senior schools at 11+.
Offering genuine co-education throughout the age range Reception to Year 6, Hornsby House gives children high academic standards through a wide and varied curriculum, both in and out of the classroom. Recent achievements include major academic scholarships to Alleyn's, Dulwich College, Emanuel and Streatham & Clapham High School. Several children have won representative sporting honours.
The school offers excellent sporting opportunities with the main sports of football, netball, rugby, hockey, cricket and rounders delivered by a large specialist team of PE and Games staff. We have truly outstanding IT facilities with four e-learning suites and interactive whiteboards in every classroom. The children benefit from a strong music department with two full time music teachers plus a dozen visiting instrumental staff.
Our newest building, completed in May 2010, provides greater specialist teaching space and also dining room and kitchen facilities. Hornsby House is a three form school throughout the age range, with an average class size of 18. We have both a teacher and an assistant with each class up to and including Year 4 and in Reception there are three full time adults to each of the three classes.
I came to Hornsby House eight years ago, having previously taught at Arnold House, Belhaven Hill and Vinehall. I hope that you will visit us to experience the warm friendship and the sense of fun and industry that makes Hornsby House stand out from the crowd.
